At Knead to Relax, we offer a range of deeply relaxing treatments designed to help you de-stress and unwind.
Traditional Relaxation Massage
Take time out for yourself with a treatment designed specifically to help you relax. A relaxation massage is a more gentle, smooth and flowing type of massage which works on mind and body to help you slow down and switch off. We recommend a minimum of a one hour treatment session for deep relaxation.
Hot Stones Massage
Hot stone massage is a very relaxing and warming therapy which combines the benefits of hydrotherapy (water therapy) and thermotherapy (heat therapy) with massage techniques. This is a wonderful therapy for people in need of deep relaxation or if you suffer from cold hands or feet.
Hawaiian Temple Lomi Lomi
The ultimate in relaxation massage and deeply therapeutic for both mind and body. This unique and profound form of healing massage stems from the ancient Polynesians and was developed by the master healers of Hawaii. The underlying philosophy of Lomi Lomi massage is the fundamental concept of Huna in which everything seeks balance and harmony. A Lomi Lomi therapist uses deep, flowing movements enabling the body to totally relax and the mind to just let go. Many people experience a profound spiritual and mental shift during a Lomi Lomi massage and are able to let go of limiting beliefs and behaviours. The Hawaiians look at things in terms of energy flow where an idea or belief can block flow as much as muscle tension can. Lomi Lomi helps release the blockages, whilst at the same time giving the energy new direction. Lomi Lomi is therefore not just a physical experience; it also enables healing on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels as well. The Hawaiians view all aspects of the body as one and believe that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are all part of the "whole" self - when healing is effected on one level, all levels are affected.
Slavic massage is one of the oldest forms of massage. Developed over hundreds of years from the times of Genghis Khan, this art spread from the plains at the base of the Altai Mountains and around the shores of lake Baikal, through the great horse nations of the Slavic people from Central Asia and Eastern Europe and carried by them to the West. Slavic massage was gradually developed by people living close to nature in a true wilderness, and used in the nurturing care of both humans and horses. This deeply relaxing and hypnotic massage is created by gentle stretches, smooth flowing rhythmical, circular, diagonal and figure-of-eight movements, combined with warm oils. Slavic massage seems deceptively simple, but is highly effective.
It induces deep mental and physical relaxation, gently allowing the muscular system to de-stress and allowing the body to fully relax. The benefits of this type of massage are multi-faceted, the physical effects on the circulation and lymphatic system of massage are well known. With Slavic Massage there is also a marked improvement in the micro circulation to all areas improving skin tone and nourishing tissue cells. Also the specific oils used in this particular massage increase the nutrition and lubrication to the skin leaving it with a healthy glow. The deep relaxation and gentle stretching involved in the treatment is ideal for easing out the joints and reducing discomfort, in particular elderly clients and those with arthritis.
